[Community -> Update] - More info on Person: Chris Avellone | More info on Person: Brian Fargo
I wasn't going to post this as it didn't seem relevant, but since it's a relatively slow news day, here are the Game Developers Choice Awards.
New Studio
- Cryptic Studios (City of Heroes)
- Michael Lewis - Crytek (Far Cry)
- Avni Yerli, Cevat Yerli, Faruk Yerli - inXile entertainment (The Bard's Tale)
- Brian Fargo, Matthew Findley - Obsidian Entertainment (Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords)
- Chris Avellone, Chris Jones, Darren Monahan, Chris Parker, Feargus Urquhart - the Behemoth (Alien Hominid)
- Tom Fulp, Brandon LaCava, Dan Paladin
...
Writing
- Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (Rockstar North / Rockstar Games)
- Dan Houser, James Worrall - Half-Life 2 (Valve Software / Vivendi Universal Games)
- Marc Laidlaw - Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude (High Voltage Software / Vivendi Universal Games)
- Matt Entin, Ed Kuehnel, Eric Nofsinger - Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (Intelligent Systems / Nintendo)
- Nate Bihldorff, Ryota Kawade - Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords (Obsidian Entertainment / LucasArts Entertainment)
- Chris Avellone
Well done Chris Avellone and Brian Fargo for getting nominated. I'm not too bothered about who wins, as long as Magna Cum Laude loses.

Leisure Suit Larry for writing? This is like a sign of the apocalypse isn't it?What's next, Penthouse Forum for the Pulitzer Prize. Granted I haven't played this one, but I remember some of the earlier ones. Dude, the titty jokes are so tired, and the cheezy double entendre has all the subtlty of a sledgehammer. Real sophisticated shit. |
