<a href="http://www.whiptailinteractive.com/">Whiptail Interactive</a> have sent out a press release confirming an April release for <a href="http://www.master-creating.com/">Master Creating</a>'s cyberpunk, post-apocalyptic <em>Diablo</em>-clone, <a href="http://www.ra2083.com/">Restricted Area</a>.

<blockquote><em>London, February 3rd 2005

Product: Restricted Area
Developer: Master Creating
Genre: 3-D Isometric Action RPG
Platform: PC CD-ROM
Release: Late April 2005
SRP: £24.99

Picking up five nominations in the latest German Developer Awards,
Whiptail Interactive reveals more details of its forthcoming
action-packed PC cyber-punk RPG.

Set in the year 2083, Restricted Area is a cyberpunk-themed action
RPG where four unique and very different characters progress
independently through the same narrative. As they do so, the story is
revealed from various angles - refreshingly different to the single
narrative form of most RPGs.

The game's accent is on both action and RPG. On the one hand, the
action elements are delivered via fast gameplay, the controls are more
direct and the player will also find some shooter elements - switching
between weapons without entering the inventory for example. On the
other hand the game delivers RPG elements via a discussion system with
real choices, a storyline with surprising twists and a complex but
easy-to-use attribute and skill system.

As an outlaw for hire, you'll be sent into dangerous restricted areas set in a dark and fascinating future world.

Since the location is London and the price listed in pounds, I'm
assuming this is the UK release date. And picking up five nominations
in the German Developer Awards means very little, since the German
gaming press are notorious for overrating any game made in their own
country.<em>

How does a price of 24.99 GBP compare to regular prices for new releases?
How appropriate. You fight like a cow.

It's cheaper. I think the standard RRP of a new PC game is £34.99, but stores usually sell at £29.99.

So I'd say RA might possibly have a high street price of £19.99, which is pretty cheap for the UK. Chronicles of Riddick was sold for around that price as an experiment I think, and I'm guessing it sold pretty well as other companies seem to be doing the same thing now.
