[Film & TV -> Review]

Ain't It Cool News
has reviewed a test screening of The Hitchhiker's
Guide to the Galaxy. It's a wonderfully positive
review, even though the reviewer only saw a very rough cut of the
film.

I could give
you the requisite preamble about how important the work of Douglas
Adams is to me. I could write about how many of my friendships over the
years have been at least partially predicated on a shared affection for
the most inaccurately named trilogy of all time. Or I could try to
chart all the stuttered starts and stops the film's gone through in
development over the years.
But ultimately, what really matters is the film itself. Is it any good?
Will it satisfy fans? Will it play for audiences unfamiliar with the
books? I can't answer that last question... Disney's marketing
department is going to have to do that... but I can tell you that I
thought the film was a glorious shambling tribute to the work of Adams,
a beautifully realized vision filled to the brim with quirky
performances and hilarious details. It's almost shockingly eccentric
and manages to stay very faithful to the spirit of all the previous
incarnations of the story while also contributing some fascinating new
ideas to the overall mythos.

AICN doesn't give good reviews out like candy, so I
think we'll be in for a treat when this film is released. And
this was just a rough cut!

AICN doesn't give good review out like candy
:chew:

Does the review talk about how he nearly pissed his pants and how his father might have been late but enjoyed it anyway and how omg the director is so cool and other pointless shit?

Which AICN are you reading? Harry Knowles doesn't know a good movie from his asshole. He gave Episode II a good review, for fuck's sake.
