for what skills can you find books for?

Like Tactics? Found a cool mod for another game that reminds you of Fallout? Playing those crappy spin-off console games called "Fallout"? Discuss here.

Piloting

Traps

Repair

Science

AFAIK theoretically you can use books in FOT to raise your stats all the way up to 300% though I doubt there are that many books in the game. : )

The standard FO skill books are all available in FoT, plus two new ones. This brings the list to:
  • Big Book of Science (Science)
  • Dean's Electronics (Repair)
  • First Aid Manual (First Aid)
  • Guns and Bullets (Small Guns)
  • Maddock's Tricks and Traps (Traps; FoT only)
  • Scout Book (Outdoorsmans)
  • Zen and the Art of Piloting (Piloting; FoT only)
I'm not sure exactly how high a skill can be raised using books, and it varies from skill to skill, but appears to be in the 140-160% range for most skills, which is -- of course -- far higher than they could be raised in the RPGs.

Incidentally, the FoT engine allows books to be set up for any skill available in the game, if you're thinking about getting into modding.

Cheers,

OTB

Don't forget that the Comprehension perk will let you get more xp per book
I think it drops a little when you go over 100% but I reckons it good value
