HomeLAN Q&A on Freedom

[ -> Interview]

Remember that little EA game that Killian posted about a few weeks ago? HomeLAN Fed has managed to score an <a href="http://www.homelanfed.com/index.php?id= ... terview with a couple of the devs working on it. Here's a bit of the session:

HomeLAN - The game will incorporate both turn based strategy and action gameplay. How difficult is it to merge two types of gameplay modes into Freedom: Battle for Liberty Island?
Guldbaek and Semler - Merging the two types of gameplay is not the difficult part of our production. Rather, keeping a strong flow in the game and maintaining a intuative experience for all players was the real challenge for Freedom.Our plan from the beginning was to build on our success in developing story-driven, "thinking shooters", while incorporating strategic elements from popular real-time and turn-based games. By taking the player out of the traditional, linear storyline, and adding a planning mode to the game, we feel people will have a greater sense that they are truly influencing the way that the plot is unfolding. The ability to examine intelligence reports and maps of several, interconnected levels at once, and to choose which strategic targets to focus on at what times, will enable the player to truly craft their own style of gameplay.
Thanks to Slider for the heads up.
