Contagion

It's a movie from Steven Soderbergh about a disease that is infecting the world and how the human population is coping with it. It stars a lot of people with the most notable being Matt Damon, Lawrance Fishburne, Gywneth Paltrow, Kate Winselt, Jude Law, and more. Basically it starts from the beginning with a few cases and then keeps going until they find a cure but like millions of people die in the process.

It was interesting mostly because it dealt with how the world would cope, like how would people take advantage of it, how people would try to protect themselves, what the government would do, etc. In a sense it was a post apocalyptic movie maybe and you guys would probably like it.

I've always liked movies where like they bring in people who are specialists to solve problems instead of having like Joe Blow trying to save the world. Of interesting note I saw it on Imax and I don't really know why it was on it but I had to pay a premium like 18 bucks, just see it on a regular screen.

I liked it and it encourages me to watch more disease movies like perhaps the Sean connery one.

I wasn't interested in seeing it. It's like a zombie epidemic movie without the zombies ie. boring.

Plus Matt Damon is a tool. icon_drunk

It looked interesting, I wanted to go see this movie and Apollo 18 with some friends.

I liked it. A very sober perspective on how susceptible we are to pandemics, and how hard it is to contain them before SHIT GETS REAL.

Jude Law has a very notable bucktooth in it, you tend to focus on it in a televised debate scene. Also, for how easy it seems the world could come to this, at least as portrayed, I felt it advisory to buy a shotgun in preparation, though in retrospect, that's just the universal tool of any apocalypse, like shoes or a canteen.

This whole dine-in theatre phenomenon is also interesting. Is that going on anywhere else, or is it exclusive to Arizona?

Yeah, I heard a review say it boils down to humankind's incomptence/inability to put aside all the petty bullshit and get their shit together in the face of a huge threat e.g. every George Romero movie ever.

Great scenes of sudden and unyielding brutality. Paltrow's death scene was sexcellent, as was her autopsy. Also, hard child-death. Worth seeing in imax to see sweat on foreheads and bubbles in spittle.

You mean having dinner when watching the movie? Do they have like tables and plates and stuff? That would kind of suck because it would be loud, but occasionally you get a family who things its good to get take out and bring it into the theater.

There's something like that at the "Muvico" in California. I think he can order a meal and eat it in this skybox while watching the movie.

They've got something like that in my town, there are couches and tables and places where people can either lounge or eat during the film. Overall pretty nice, just doesn't show brand new movies.

Edit, I actually somewhat plan to see it. But then again I haven't seen a movie I planned to see in like... a year. Or two. I don't remember, honestly.

Watched this and meh'd. Very american soap csi-we're-all-consummate-professionals-and-what-we-do-in-our-spare-time-is-meaningless-unless-we're-cheating-our-spouse-because-that's-what-justifies-our-deaths crapola.

Reco'd Perfect Sense instead, significant higher rating on the GetsULaid-o-metre while being a good movie albeit a couple of niggling things (read: narration, BEACUASE WERE ALL VERI DUMB). icon_paper

I heard it builds up excitement well enough and then demolishes it by finding a cure. Fair enough that there aren't a whole lot of options for what direction to take outbreak movies in, but still, I'm hardly inspired to watch it.

The cure part actually added more to the film. Dealt with how it was going to be distributed and all that stuff. Didn't add much but anyways it was less cliche to add a somewhat happy ending then it is to have a all dark ending now a days gosh.
