I downloaded Dead Space 2 last night, and have been playing on Zealot mode. So far, it's fairly easy, except for the one hit kills by multiple necromorphs.
For a linear shooter, I like it a lot.

That's it? No patch-for-making-the-game-actually-work in line with VtMB or somesuch? Good to know, cheers.
SS2 wasn't half-baked like Bloodlines, it's a pretty tight, polished, well balanced experience from beginning to end. It doesn't come off as rushed and incomplete like Bloodlines - we're talking Warren Spector here, not Troika.
Really, SS2 is as tight as they come, outside of sprucing up the graphics (which are still going to look kind of unimpressive by today's standards) the game is pretty untouchable.
That Warren Spector Trifecta of Thief/System Shock 2/Deus Ex really smashed the FPS genre into itty-bitty little pieces. I can't play straight FPSers after them. It's a pity that so many developers still pump out the same old tired formulaic cookie-cutter FPS games when Spector was pushing the boundaries way back then.
Game industry sucks, but what else is new?

I reckon I'm gonna go with SHTUP and Rebirth, texture updates the two of them. I'll leave secmod for a future run.
BTW Frater, you might be interested in this.

Exactly what I needed, might fire it up soon enough!
It's actually a really fun game to get into, even if you're not into Tolkien works. It beats WoW hands down (WoW is shit) and it's even free to try for as long as you can deal with not having the full content (which you will barely notice for a ways into it).
I'm playing as a hobbit hunter (as in, a hobbit that is a hunter, not someone or something that hunts hobbits) and having a blast setting traps and firing into large bears and other higher level beaties to collect hides and to accomplish deeds (see below) by using your hunting skills.
I'm barely doing any quests because just running around finding materials to craft your own items to equip or sell is really the meat of it imo, not to mention it's quite large and if you're somewhat into Middle-Earth it has quite most of it covered it should be worth it for that alone.
There are lots of virtues as well as racial and class traits that you can equip for accomplishing deeds that boost your stats and you can mix and match the variety after you have learned them.
I have yet to try Skirmish mode which apparently is people joining up and fighting Sauron's forces and learning other skills (will look more into it next time I log in).
I'm just now getting into MMO's and I'm actually quite surprised at how much fun some of them are and most of the greater ones are free to try.
Warhammer Online - Age of Reckoning looks pretty promising as well, more raw action than frolocking but still seems quite engaging.
Bravo, I have found something worthy of killing the much too much free time between classes.

Well, story so far isn't anything special at all. Not that it's bad or anything. It's a nice game, better than most RPGs in the last couple of years, with all moral thingy and all. Atmosphere kinda annoys me at the moments. All in all, good game, some new good elements, some really bad, but I still have to finish it to make a real judgement.
I overheard a friend talking about Battlezone: Rise of the Black Dogs and how he played it a lot on his N64 way back when and I went home and dug around for it and surprised him, so we're playing that all co-op like.
