Interplay and Masthead Studios have finalized their agreement to develop the post-apocalyptic MMO codenamed Project V13. As Duck and Cover has reported in the past, Project V13 is the codename for Interplay's Fallout MMO. Interplay's rights to develop and release it using the Fallout name, however, are caught up in a legal battle with current IP owner Bethesda. As we recently reported, Interplay is set to release the game as a new IP rather than as a Fallout game if they fail to prevail in the court case. Here is the press release from Interplay:

It's a little bit sad that all of this boring legal wrangling stuff between IPLY and Bethesda is far more fascinating than almost any of the news about Fallout 3 ever was.

With any luck, Interplay/Masthead will end up producing/distributing the Fallout MMO - I'll definitely check it out if they do it. If Bethesda does it, I'm not wasting any more money on a shitty Fallout-themed Elder Scrolls game, even if it is an MMO
