Girl Developer Ashley Has Interview

Post by POOPERSCOOPER »

<strong>[ Company -> Interview ]</strong>

<p>Gameobserver has an interview with Ashley Cheng from Bethesda and talks about FO3 and stuff but the most interesting part of the interview was this part;</p><p> </p><blockquote><strong>GameObserver: How does the Gamebryo engine differ from other engines, like Unreal, given the types of games you tend to make? </strong>

<strong>Ashley Cheng: </strong>We&rsquo;ve been building
on top of Gamebryo for the past 8 years. There is no replacement for
the learning and iteration that goes into building technology for that
long. An engine is simply a tool. Anybody can use a paint brush and
paper &ndash; it&rsquo;s how you use it to create your art. It is the same with
game engines.

We are very particular with our needs and they are mostly related to
our editor. Our editor is powerful, allowing our content folks to
quickly create quests, conversations, cities, dungeons, landscape,
etc... you name it -- we do it faster than anybody else in the
industry. No one can match us when it comes to vast, open-ended
beautiful worlds full of NPCs, quests and dialogue.</blockquote><p> </p><p>"You should kill yourself, it's not natural [science]." You can read the rest <a href="http://www.gameobserver.com/features/in ... works-130/" target="_self">here.</a>

Ashley Cheng: My name is Ashley Cheng and I’m the production director of the studio. I started back in 2001 and have worked on Morrowind, Oblivion and most recently Fallout 3. I am responsible for the overall schedule, making sure everyone is completing their work to a high quality and overseeing test cycles. I’m also responsible for voice recording and casting, localization and our relationships with outside entities like Microsoft and Sony.
So he's responsible for it being untested, or rather the amount of buginess shit going through to the final product (otherwise known as open beta in Fallout 3's case).

Has only 4 voice actors in their rolladex, and probably gets the big name voice actors for their own personal "lolz I meetz them!"

Responsible for giving Microsoft the DLC's that are the wrong builds and saying "it was Microsoft" when they release a DLC that's a pile of shit.

Nobody else does it buggier, half-assed, or filled with shit design as Bethesda, either. I wouldn't be too proud of your Randumb Content Generator, Ashley, considering the monkeys hammering on it can't use it worth a shit. The infinite monkeys thing requires just that - an infinite number. When you have a limited number of monkeys facerolling a keyboard, you have Bethesda.

Bethesda: The only company that's not just too fucking lazy to come up with a new game engine, but damn proud of it!

Hey guys, you should be nicer to Bethesda, they're trying really hard to give you a high quality, totally immersive gaming experience, and are trying to respond to fans wishes in order to make us all feel more a part of the creative process. Whether it be exciting dialogue, breathtaking action sequences, or beautifully detailed scenery, you can guanrantee that Bethesda is giving it their 110% in any given circumstance, to give you just what you're looking for. They have a big vision for the series, and wholeheartedly believe that they can not only provide you with the best quality gaming experience available on the market today, but also believe they have the ability to push the industry, challenging its ideas, and bring us forward into the many new experiences next-gen gaming has to offer.

'snot their fault they just suck really hard at it :P

Really really do suck. Suck so much.
