Borderlands Gets Dated Kinda

Post by POOPERSCOOPER »

<strong>[ Game -> Update ]</strong>

<p>Haven't been following the game too hard but I know a few of you are looking forward to it. Looks like it will be October this year;</p><blockquote>Developer Gearbox Software is targeting an October release for its
post-apocalyptic shooter-RPG Borderlands, the studio told Shacknews
during a recent interview.
<div class="focalbox"><a href="http://www.shacknews.com/screenshots.x? ... 6075"><img border="0" src="http://www.shacknews.com/images/sshots/ ... mbnail.jpg" /></a><a href="http://www.shacknews.com/screenshots.x? ... 6074"><img border="0" src="http://www.shacknews.com/images/sshots/ ... mbnail.jpg" /></a></div>
<p>Originally expected <a href="http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/48486">last year</a>, the game was then <a href="http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/51707">pushed into 2009</a>, with publisher Take-Two Interactive merely stating that it would arrive no later than October 31, 2009.
</p><p>For more on the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 shooter--described by our own Nick Breckon as "Diablo-meets-Halo"--check out our <a href="http://www.shacknews.com/featuredarticl ... 45">latest impressions</a>, and stay tuned for an interview with Gearbox's "guy who can get you things" Mikey Neumann.

All Xbox ports feel so fucking dumbed down that it's impossible to enjoy a decent shooter nowadays.

Apparently, in the future where we live every game is a first-person shooter, no matter what it's about or what the genre may be.

Let's see, from the games I've played recently:

The Witcher - grim fantasy FPS
Fallout 3 - grim post-apocalyptic FPS
Bioshock - retro-future Objectivist-trashing FPS
Gears of War 2 - grim-gay buddy soldier FPS

And these are supposed to be the great games of our generation?

I'm bored. I think I'll play some CthulhuTech instead.

Gears of War wasn't a FPS. (though it may as well of been.)

And not to mention that the stuff Mechanurgist said has been shouted out every once in a while for the past 10 years or so. FPS's are just so darned popular that they will allways go on and be the "mainstream".

They were all essentially first-person shooters. It doesn't matter if the camera can be placed above your shoulder, you're still firing a gun/hacking with a sword/blasting with magic fireballs from eye-level. That's a FPS to me.
