Mad Max 4 Goes Anime?

George Miller seems to think that the next installment in the Mad Max series will be a 3D anime-style film. From <a href="http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2009/03/05/ex ... e-feature/" target="_self">MTV Movies</a>:<blockquote>“We’ll probably go a different route,” Miller told MTV News about
the potential talent voicing the lead role. The plot would be partly
lifted from the script of the fourth “Max” film, which was set to shoot
in 2003 until financing collapsed in the wake of the Iraq War. Now Miller is resurrecting the idea as an R-rated, stereoscopic
anime flick for theatrical release. It’s a curious undertaking, to be
sure, but one made all the more certain to happen after the runaway
success in 2006 of his computer-animated “Happy Feet”—not that the
newest, ever-violent “Max” film will have much in common with that
kid-friendly penguin party.“I see myself as someone who is very curious about storytelling and
all its various media,” Miller said. “I’ve always loved anime, in
particular the Japanese sensibility. It’s something I’ve always wanted

Mel Gibson is getting a bit old, so maybe it's not such a bad idea. Thoughts?

Japanese sensibility is anything but, and anime has been done to death -
I think I've seen two things in my entire life involving anime that wasn't awful. And shoe-horning something so signaturely western into a Japanese-style is quite frankly retarded.

If it were simply a 3D animated movie I could handle it; I'm surprised more science fiction films haven't gone that route so they could do ridiculously awesome stuff without a huge budget.

Did anyone see that Highlander anime that came out recently? I think it was actually better than the latest live action installment Highlander: The Source. The Source was pretty embarrassing.

Only good anime movie I ever saw was Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade. This is, of course, because it's scripted and carried out like a live action movie; I'm assuming they did it for the budgetary constraints the power armor suits would have caused.

Well sure they aren't exactly power armor, but at least I drew some kind of dots/lines between that they're "Panzer troops" carrying machineguns, firing from the hip and and that they wear power armor looking "protective gear".

During the 1940's, 50's and 60's? Granted, I realize this is anime so the sky is the limit - but Kerberos Saga has been along in various forms of media before Jin-Roh was ever made so was rooted in reality quite abit. I guess I can see how you can make that assumption with the red eyes (which is what I thought you were refering to), but they're not powered, I assure you and I thought the movie showed as much. The most I can imagine is they have some sort of IR optics, but it's not impossible for them to have that in that time frame.
