Play Fallout: Tactics Online

Post by King of Creation »

[ Community -> Article ] - More info on Game: Fallout Tactics

Scott Kevill stopped by the forums to let us know about a new online service where you can play Fallout: Tactics!

Hi all, just thought I'd let you know about a new multiplayer network
I've created for playing Fallout Tactics (and its demo) online called
GameRanger.

Basically, GameRanger makes it quick and easy to play your friends online.

It has full lobby support for over 500 different games and demos
(including Fallout Tactics, of course), without the hassles and
headaches that usually happen with network connections (eg. routers
& firewalls).

I'm really excited to be releasing it, and hope it helps boost the
Fallout Tactics community by allowing people to play that were unable
to until now due to problems with opening ports, etc. The more barriers
that can be removed, the more likely the community will stay strong, as
new users won't be put off. You should find it far simpler than Hamachi
and GSA.

You can download it at www.GameRan ... ckquote>

Maybe I'll reinstall Tactics and play that since Fallout 3 still won't work.

I've got a review of gameranger, I've been using it to play tactics online with friends.

It's great!

Runs fast, doesn't suck, hasn't fucked me over yet.

I'll let you know if it keeps pimpin. In the mean time, my username on it is popscythe, so add me and lets see if we can get some 16 player tactics going!

That's right, Fallout 3 sucks so much that Fallout tactics is suddenly viable.

Ugh, Tactics got boring after a few deathmatches.

No sir, 1 player controls anywhere from 100 - 300+ entities placed on the map and the rest of the players use their own characters, or on special maps use ones that the map maker decides. Every map has a certain point limit, most being 1000pts and 2000pts. We usually play with 1-2 characters per player that isn't the BeastLord (aka Dungeon Master, Game Master, whatever.) We also play 500pt team deathmatchs and up. Throw out an idea and people will make characters for it and play. We have maps that range from absurd, fighting robots, you playing as only robots, defending a town, killing generals, Halo, Vietnam, a few WW2 style maps with custom sprites and junk, an Aliens style map, and more.

This map uses characters that the map maker placed. It's basically WW2 in Stalingrad.

Also uses premade characters by the map maker. You start in an underground bunker. Very well made map.

My own map, looks like garbage in picture but is very fun. Players attack a Vietcong bunker and try to capture a village.

Are these stock maps, or custom? I don't recall seeing these before

All the maps I posted so far were made by guys in our community. Here's some more maps. We also use already made maps and add our own stuff to them.

My Aliens map. In game it's black with flickering lights, you can barely see enemies, and everyone is an enemy to sorta act like the motion scanner. You have to force fire to kill things and if you aren't careful you'll take out your own guys :evil_laugh:

Another WW2 map, this one by me.

Remake of the Matrix fight scene thing.

Not COOP, but fun nonetheless.

Edit: An oldie but a goodie from around 2006.
