August 1st News Roundup

<strong>[ Game -> Preview ]</strong> - More info on <a href="#Fallout 3">Game: Fallout 3</a>

<p>It's the first of August (well where I am, it already is), and here's a bunch of news from the past week or so courtesy of the <a href="http://bethblog.com/" target="_self">Bethblog</a>:
</p><blockquote><p><em>Here&rsquo;s some of the newest Fallout 3 coverage to check out.</em></p><p><em>We&rsquo;ll start with interviews, since there are plenty of new ones to
check out. As we speak, Pete is touring Europe (five countries in five
days), so you can expect new coverage from there in the coming
days/weeks. GenNext (Netherlands) already cranked out <a href="http://www.gennext.nl/indextest.php?sub ... 857">their preview</a>, which includes an interview with Pete (above).</em></p></blockquote>
<p></p>
<blockquote><p><em>Want more? Check out these interviews:</em></p><ul><li><em>The Escapist <a href="http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/ ... t">catches up with Todd</a> during the show.</em></li><li><em><a href="http://www.ripten.com/2008/07/29/making ... >Ripten</a> caught up with Pete at E3 to discuss Fallout 3 and more importantly, to pose with Vault Boy.</em></li><li><em>Polish site <a href="http://www.gry-online.pl/s014.asp?ID=174">Gry-Online</a> interviewed Todd at our E3 booth.</em></li><li><em><a href="http://blip.tv/file/1120772">GameZombie</a> manages to frighten me with scary music in their interview with Todd.</em></li><li><em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/21/joyst ... Joystiq</a> has an audio interview with Todd (as well as some pre-interview chatting with Pete).</em></li></ul><p><em>In other news, a few more sites have included Fallout 3 in their E3 lists. At Joystiq, Fallout 3 captured the &ldquo;<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-joyst ... 782/">Most Satisfyingly Explosive Heads and/or Limbs</a>&rdquo;
award. We&rsquo;d like to thank the Academy for this one &mdash; sounds like
something Javier Bardem would win. In more conventional wrap-up
coverage, <a href="http://www.straight.com/article-155713/ ... traight</a> (Vancouver) and <a href="http://www.examiner.com/x-294-Video-Gam ... usy">Video Game Examiner</a> put Fallout 3 at the top of their E3 lists</em></p><p><em>Last but not least, in print, there&rsquo;s a new Fallout 3 cover story at <a href="http://www.atomix.com.mx/">Atomix</a> (Mexico).</em></p></blockquote><p>Spotted @ <a href="http://bethblog.com/">Bethesda Blog</a></p>

Hey, are you mad you no longer have powers in #fallout?

I really only watched one or two videos of Fo3 because each preview or something sounded like they played the exact same thing or had to watch todd play it again.

I think there was a restructuring during E3 and cleaning out any inactive people.

Did anyone notice they seemed to forget all about the Zero Punctuation preview of Fallout 3?

If it's obvious then why hasn't any other journalist mentioned it?

Because the average journalist is no smarter than a slobbering pig.

That, and your average journalist will often find honesty and objectivity less alluring than financial enrichment.

And then, we have 'Gaming Journalists' . . . :drunk:

Hey, there's nothing wrong in highlighting the good parts a bit more than the rest, for a generous payment, while being subtle and intelligent about it.

But the way those assholes are doing it, makes the games look like a secured GOTY winner.

It doesn't help that developers actually think they have a winner, instead of admitting that their game is a total failure. Or at least it would be, if the standard wasn't so damn low...

It funny how game journalists now ask selective questions(i.e. approved by Todd Howard) about some of the weaknesses in Oblivion(level scaling, voice acting, Radiant AI etc.), but at the time of release the game was just too EPIC for these problems to exist.
