I wonder when someone is going to make a mass-produced trap that is essentially a heated sleeping bag. Heater on the inside so they have to come in for the heat.

Then there would be a huge rat problem due to no snakes.

Do mongooses kill rats?

I guess it would be time for Cat Crusade.

our stink bugs just smell like some weird chemical, not anything rotten, just not pleasant.

Snakes are useful only kill them if they are trying to do so to you.

I dont think mongooses kill too many rats. We get hawks here so the rats have a hard time, DEATH FROM ABOVE!

We also have owls living in our chimney.

I used to have those around the place, too. I didn't really bother, but I did notice that when I got my two cats, the centipedes disappeared mysteriously.

Join the club Mad Max.

I used to get those fuckers in my shower.
Jump in the shower in the morning and bam, thing is sitting at face level on the wall.
I crush the little shits but I'm pretty sure they don't bite, at least, I haven't been bit and I picked one up.

They do bite. Hah hah.

I found a gecko in my shower once when I lived in Houston. I'm not a lizard fan but I'd rather have that than mutant centipedes. Uggh.

I find geckos constantly. For a while I used to catch them, but once you learn how it works it instantly becomes boring. Image

Don't get me wrong though, I'm not about to go buy one a beer and chill or anything, and I don't approve of them crawling all over me.

Luckily we don't have too many crazy bugs around where I live, we have a few black widows and the occasional recluse, but what we do have all over the place is these guys:

Called Hobo spiders and while they don't really kill people, they can cause flesh to die around the bite in some people, causing nasty scars.

We also have plenty of ticks, and some giant pine beetles that I believe are called Sawyer Beetles and are perhaps the clumsiest flyers I've ever seen, I remember getting a welt when one flew into me as I rode my bike when I was a kid.

Oh and stink bugs that smell like rotten apples and bananas, they're everywhere during the fall.
hobos are in the recluse family man. while their bites often don't kill if treated, i'm pretty sure a full on one can.

IIRC, Brown Recluse sits at around the 3rd/4th most poisnous spider. And indeed, Hobo spiders are in the recluse family. Did you also know that one of the leading researchers of Hobo spiders went missing years ago? :conspiracy:

I vote 4too's slipper needs one.

And about the klingon, uuuuum no.

I live in africa, we have more important things to do than learn a language for fat yank kids, like maybe knowing which spiders will fucking kill you. I know that one is from australia but the book seemed to thinkit was important, it was also adamant that I would some day run into a giant centipede.

oh and you should see the taranchula migration..
you'll be driving along a desert road at night and all of a sudden the yellow line disappears and it sound like your running over chicken bones, and you stop for a moment and peer at what the headlights are illuminating and you notice THE WHOLE FUCKING ROAD IS MOVING!
covered with tarantulas all moving in one direction , like lemmings from hell.

i've started seeing centipedes in my home in the past couple of weeks, bug fuckers maybe 4 inches long. however, they're clearly as disgusted by me as i am by them, so they're not a problem. they hate light, perhaps if you created an elaborate setup of lights in your house so that every surface was fully illuminated day and nite they'd leave you alone? :)

i'm cool with most bugs, & i'll happily have any kind of non-deadly spider crawling on me. the only bugs i can't stand are caterpillars, i'll freak out and probably start screaming if one gets on me. their movement causes my brain to recoil in horror. i DID have 6-10 of them on me at once when i was younger, though, and one of them was in my eye for a minute, so at least the phobia has a discernible root. does anyone else share this silly fear?
