I only see it clockwise and I'm trying to actually see it do counter clockwise but I can't.

I can get it to change direction by scrolling it off the screen and then scrolling up(down) so that it just reveals her foot(head). Bam! It rotates at the opposite direction.

Maybe it's somehow connected with the right/left side of your brain dominating. Dunno. If you can't get it to work, you must be gay or something.

this is a fun audio illusion, but it falls apart if you think about it for a few seconds.

This is a great optical illusion. When you first look youâ€™ll see her spinning in one direction. Now focus on her shadow, and try to imagine her spinning in the opposite direction. Alternatively, tilt your head down and look at her out of the top of your eyes, and try to imagine her spinning in the opposite direction. Sooner or later sheâ€™ll switch for you.

No matter how I look at it, it's always clockwise.

According to the shitty facebook application I have for this, if it's clockwise you're right brained, anti-clockwise you're left. Left side is ment to signify rational, logic, etc while right brained is more creative and stuff. Which makes no fucking sense since I'm far more logical and rational then I am fucking creative.

to all people who present 'proofs' that it goes clockwise or counterclockwise:
notice that each frame in this animation is made in such a way, that what you think is the front of the dancer, can also be her back. Therein lies the trick - if front can be back, clockwise can be counter-clockwise. (notice that what you think is left leg when it turns one way, becomes right leg when it turns the other way)

The hard part is that once your brain establishes what it thinks is the right interpretation, it's pretty hard to 'flip' the animation - unless you take a longer break; then you will sometimes immediately see it spinning the oposite way to the previous interpretation, without your effort or decision. Just this time the brain decided to interpret this the opposite way.
Yeah I think some people can be predisposed to see it only clockwise or vice-versa and it can be related to left-right hemisphere domination or something. Viewing only the foot or he top of the head also helps.

btw if you want to 'flip' the spin direction while looking at it, try to put your vision out of focus (you can control your eyes' focus, can't you?)
and imagine it's not a 3D animation, but a 2D pendelum. Then it's easier to take next step and see the rotation the other way. You might also try looking at your screen from an angle so that the figure resembles 3D human less and your brain is not forcing the first interpretation so hard.
