Official Fallout Site Update

Post by King of Creation »

[ Game -> Update ] - More info on Game: Fallout 3

Since I'm doing nothing but sitting in airports and sleeping on planes today, I decided to post some news! Huzzah. Luckly most airports have free wireless internet. Anyways..

If you go to the Official Fallout 3 Website, you will be greeted by the age old "Please Stand By" indian head logo. What does this mean? We can only speculate, but I'd assume we're going to see an expanded site rather than just the teaser trailer.

Check it out!

Official Fallout site != Official Fallout 3 site.

Know the difference, it may spare you looking like a tool.

what can it be, i am so exited.

all that countdown website shit is made for the press, not for the gamers, i don`t know why i should care. Public enemy predicted it, dont believe the hype.

edit: one thing, which i also wanted to say, they have a shitload of money, but yet they utterly faile to produce a Vault boy, which looks like the classic one, the reason is simple, they just don`t have love in their work.

Or more shit that reveals the entire linear plot... that would be fun.

I can't wait to save my daddy from an evil Brotherhood of Steel general only to find out that my perfect papa was actually the evil general all along.

 the same avatars they're charging $$$ for on XBL + the Vault-Tec logo. AWESOME!

the same wallpapers they're charging for + their version of the power armor!

AWESOME!

that's some innovation right there.

Why is Todd Howard such a phony?
The other thing to keep in mind is that preview comments often circle around the small-footprint sensational elements (Fat Man, toilet drinking, bobbleheads, etc), while sometimes missing the key points of the hour-long demo we give, which are: player choice, consequence, sacrifice, and survival.
Ever heard "The Devil's in the details" ...

http://fallout.bethsoft.com/vault/diari ... 01.07.html

this is pretty terrible, overall.

let's not bother to clarify anything.

dismiss any and all qualms as trivial.

name yourself the sole source of info.

and then make heads spin with this:
I've seen too many things I once loved fall down the hole of numbing repetition
did he play Oblivion for more than 5 minutes?

Survival is a key theme of the game, not just for you, but for the characters living in the world. The no-longer-simple act of survival, and the uniqueness of it, gives each character special meaning. What has each one sacrificed to do so? You have to find water sources to drink from, and balance your health and radiation levels. There are countless sources of water. Yes, the game has toilets (just like…the real world), and if you want, you can drink out of them. That's a better solution than saying, "sorry player, you can drink all water types but this one." Don't confuse a preview mentioning toilets with what we're focused on.
:evil_laugh:
Maybe we're peeved because you cheesed up the whole "survival" thing by adding this "ZOMG FIND WATER" minigame when "survival" wasn't really an active theme in Fallout like you're trying to "re-imagine" it was.
The answer to your first question is shaddup.

the water thing is a bit goofy but I did always wonder what the vault dweller lived on. Maybe it was just faith, like Tinkerbell.

Fallout didn't really feel like a survival game to me except for saving the vault or village? Though water elements could by kinda cool they might become a pain in the ass very quick. They won't be healing only keeping your hydration up, from what I have read so far. It might be some type of invisible wall where you can't travel to a certain point because you have no water.

Hmm, the lack of a link to NMA or DAC is funny.
