Fargo Confirms It!

Post by King of Creation »

[ Game -> Update ] - More info on Person: Brian Fargo | More info on Game: Wasteland 2

A few days ago, we reported that Brian Fargo might, in fact, be working on a successor to Wasteland. The boards were abuzz with speculation and hope. Well, we got word from the man himself. Brian Fargo, the founder of Interplay and the producer of the original Wasteland, told DAC the following:

I am indeed looking into bringing back the game that spawned the Fallout series. Stay tuned....

Stay tuned we will.

Nice.

He doesn't need press releases.

The question is, who will do it.

Will he gather the old team? Or he will just dump it on EA, lay back and smoke cuban children?

For some odd reason, I like that he actually replied to us. Makes DaC feel somewhat important =(.

He knows that Wasteland spawned some of the greatest games and websites since 1987, and that DAC is not a sell out.

Wonderful news, although it's pretty obvious when you think about it. They wouldn't had acquired the license unless they had plans for it.

I hope they get the financing necessary to release and distribute the game.

Mmmmm, blood sausages.

I hope they keep the weird names and make Toaster Repair its own skill, with sub-branches for Atomic Toaster Repair, Alien Toaster Repair and HydroMagnetoFusionLaser Toaster Repair.

This is hilarious. Everybody is up in arms about how Bethesda is ruining the Fallout IP but everybody is super excited about Brian Fargo making a new Wasteland. Do you people not remember what he did to A Bard's Tale a few years back? Talk about ruining a classic franchise...

Well, it looks like the site is not updated much.
I hope to see that bit changed soon.

But remember Fargo told us to 'wait for the announcement' years ago when he first got the licence. So take this comment with a pinch of salt...

Yay! Will Fargo be our savior in these times of darkness? Too soon to know, but this is good news regardless.

Beth's Fallout will be shit, this is more or less confirmed, and there does not seem to be much we, the fans, could do about it as Beth could not care less what we have to say on the matter. So why not focus on something else?

Besides, somehow it feels like Brian Fargo has a bit more merit to his name than Todd... and the fact that Brian chose to contact DAC personally says something about what old Fallout fans mean to him, in my opinion.

As I've said earlier I know Fallout 3 won't be anything like the previous ones, but it might be a decent game. Time will tell, but one thing is sure. Bethesda is from hell. I don't like em, I don't like how they handle things and I don't like the way they do things.

As for fargo I've always liked him and the way he does his thing. The news about a sequel to wasteland is superb, and him doing is also. I hope this would be a new era for the community as a sort of "working enviroment" for the devs and fans. I hope we're in the loop. Both info like and dev like. By gamers for gamers. Perhaps it's time to bring back the good old times for fans and devs.

Okay, niggas, it`s time to turn this homepage to a Wasteland fanpage.
This would mean, i am optimistic, after seeing the fiasco with Fallout 3.

Please Mister Fargo, make a real RPG.
