Actually it sounds kind of reasonable, and it doesn't mean you can't obtain a genuine article so it really hurts nobody but the kind of person I hate.. which is the kind of law I can get behind.

Not in the least.

Stupid people have it in their minds that getting rid of implements of harm is the solution. They haven't the slightest clue that it's the proclivities of society as a whole that determine the commonality of violence in any capacity. If anything, it's just going to force those willing to commit such acts to do so in more gruesome ways, as evidenced in the article.

How long before they start banning steak knives? Forks? Really sharp pencils? Scissors?

Oh gods... Found this a few days ago.

I cannot believe the police are backing this... Anyone with a chunk of steel and a grinder can make a functional 'sword'... These cheap replica blades would break in half if you swung them side-on in a strong wind, and they're making a big deal out of banning them.

Haven't they noticed every family home in the country has between 2-10 high quality weed knives up to and beyond a foot in length?

That you can buy yourself a razor sharp felling axe, a 25" long machete, or a battery powered drill at any DIY store, all of which could kill within a matter of seconds?

That it's not exactly difficult to sharpen yourself a wooden spear out of a branch, or to sharpen any piece of scrap metal to a killing edge?

Discriminating against collectors is simply an easy way of keeping the paranoid public happy for a few more years while further restricting the freedom of the individual...
