<strong>[ Game -> Article ]</strong> - More info on <a href="#Fallout: Online">Game: Fallout: Online</a>

<p>Sorry for the delay on newsposting. I've been on vacation. Anyways, <strong>Zug</strong> from <a href="http://www.endgameradio.com" target="_self">EndgameRadio</a> sent this our way:</p><table width="100%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0"><p> </p><tr><td valign="top" class="postbody"><blockquote><em>
This is Zug, from EndgameRadio.com. We check your site from time to
time, Fallout is one of our frequently discussed topics as it's one of
our favorite games. Last week we had a bit of a fanboy-fest upon
hearing the news regarding the Fallout MMO licence finally being put
into the works. I wanted to pass along the link to the show page, where
you can download the mp3 and have a listen, should you so be
interested:

you'll see that we have no ulterior motives, we're just excited about
the news.

<em>Also, we previously interviewed Feargus Urquhart, who helped bring
Fallout and Fallout 2 into being. The interview focuses on the release
of Neverwinter Nights 2, but we do manage to sneak in some Fallout
fandom as well. You can have a listen here:

Dude, seriously, those people are not just happy about the Fallout MMO, they're positively exuberant.

Seriously.

I would guess it's the tactics generation. Or pos, if that actually had approval anywhere. Or a giddy mixture of both. In any case, they require a stomping we can't be arsed to hand over, so let time and Herve do theirs and we'll provide some laughter in the end.

Oh sweet jebus...

I fear for the day that all the old Fallout fans move on and leave the POS and FOT fans to represent us.

Nothing like a slow-moving localized apocalypse to really make you think about proper data backup procedures.

Be kind, my friend, be kind.

FOT was a perversion of Fallout.

As a tactical combat game it is beneath JA2, but can still be fun.

I see FOT not as *total* crap, but rather as Fallout's version of NWN.

Except that the mods either suck or are too small and too few.

I recently played "Quagmire" and "What?"(I don't remember the actual name) and found them to be the Fallout equivalent of Dungeon-Hacks with some real smarts added. The author actually had to clone conversational participants in order to provide a ridiculously minimal dialogue system.

They pop into existence after starting a conversation. To continue, you pick which clone to talk to.

Nice workaround, but the concept was only used as a demo-level thing.
Real Dialogue would have required filling the screen with "clones" and/or having them blink in and out of existence.

If you have FOT I think it is worth checking those mods out, you might actually get some value out of them.

I had some fun with them. Just remember the importance of using mines and traps to help deal with the scripted "enemy wave" sequences that happen once certain scenario triggers are activated.

Those mods I listed have multiple paths and endings.

I see them as being more like concept demos for what FOT *could have been* than actual redemption of FOT.
