Arcanum is probably the second best CRPG. Fallout is first, of course

I thought Ultima 7 was your favorite CRPG. Why do you lie!?
I just noticed that the salute from your post is synced up with the one in your sig and it's making me nervous.

Well it's hard to put them in any specific order... but I guess Planescape: Torment, Fallout (especially 1) and Arcanum are all pretty damn awesome. Does it matter which is the best, 2nd best and so on, though?

Of course it's synced. It's the same bloody file. You should be nervous if it DIDN'T sync.

KOTOR was decent enough... The sequel was utter shit, though.

Hah, they both were okay games. Better than NWN at least, if only because it has the SW setting. But as long as we're talking about RPGs, I don't think KOTOR goes in the list.

Neither are you
We could just accept the broad category for RPGs and just get over it and chit.

Why are Knights of the Old Republic and Baldur's Gate not RPGs?

i don't know what these chums are talking about, any common rpg definition will include both KOTOR and BG2. unless you're a puritan, in which case you can exclude KOTOR, because of its perspective. but then you'd also have to exclude Vampire and M&M, which they did not.

BG2 is just a hack 'n slay adventure, a bit like Diablo,
it doesn't matter really what dialogue options you use for instance since most of them lead to the same ending, anyway. You also don't really have a choice on what to do, since there is a fix storyline.
RPG includes a bit more maybe?

your argument is vague and unfounded.
short definition, according to yours truly:
character progression
story progression
character interaction
that's it. you can call BG2 and diablo action rpg's if you like.
