Auto Assault location details

Post by Mr. Teatime »

<strong>[Game -> Images]</strong> - More info on <a href="http://wikipocalypse.duckandcover.cx/in ... l">Company: NetDevil</a> | More info on <a href="http://wikipocalypse.duckandcover.cx/in ... title=Auto Assault">Game: Auto Assault</a>

<a href="http://www.worthplaying.com">Worthplaying</a> have put up <a href="http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php ... r=0">three new screenshots/location concept arts</a> for the post-apocalyptic MMORPG <a href="http://www.autoassault.com">Auto Assault</a>.

<table width="95%" cellspacing="5" cellpadding="0" border="0" align="center">
<tr><td width="130" align="center"><a href="http://www.worthplaying.com/press/170/T ... .jpg"><img width="120" height="90" border="0" align="left" src="http://www.worthplaying.com/press/170/T ... _small.jpg" /></a></td>
<td> <p><em><strong>Omphala</strong>
- This Mutant town was founded by Mutant Shamans of the Temple Mountain
Monastery. They found the Monastery too rigid and broke off from the
group years and years ago.<strong>

</strong> </em></p></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td width="130" align="center"><a href="http://www.worthplaying.com/press/170/T ... .jpg"><img width="120" height="90" border="0" align="left" src="http://www.worthplaying.com/press/170/T ... _small.jpg" /></a></td>
<td> <p><em><strong>Aurora </strong>-
Off the highway in Human territory, you may run into this Zendig town.
The Zendig are an NPC faction made up of unique warriors with a secret
type of alien uber-technology that they employ when needed. No one
outside the faction has seen it in action...or lived to tell about it.<strong>

</strong></em></p></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td width="130" align="center"><a href="http://www.worthplaying.com/press/170/T ... .jpg"><img width="120" height="90" border="0" align="left" src="http://www.worthplaying.com/press/170/T ... _small.jpg" /></a></td>
<td> <p><em><strong>Overlook </strong>- Established by the Biomek Order, this town is best known as the place to go to study and monitor alien activities.<strong>

</strong></em></p></td></tr>
</table>

That last screenshot looks bad. There should be a rule about putting
giant signs up marking each building - talk about breaking immersion.

Breaking immersion? Hardly. I'd call it visual help. If there's one thing MMORPGs need its for towns to be better designed and its buildings sorted out more easily so players don't get lost looking for the Refinery that looks like 20 of the other buildings in the vicinity.

You can have signposts to locations, or something equivalent, but having a giant signs saying REFINERY on the refinery and repeating it for the other buildings is just lazy IMO.

But little signs usually do shit, they are always like "ITS NEXT TO THE FACTORY" its "NORTH EAST OF HERE" but i have no compass :rolleyes: It looks like a game with action and exlposions with tons of people so I dont see why big signs would break immersion and shit.

It's the aliens. To them our mundane words look exotic, so they put up the signs to make the place look 'earthly'. Kind of the way some artists like to put up chinese gibberish on signs to make their mean streets look like Hong Kong or that Bladerunner city. :D

What you say? "It's humans studying alien pod, not aliens running the city"? Believe what you want, but I think the putting up of "this will make our town look like human town"-signs speaks for itself. :google:

I'd say the whole game looks bad.
