[Company -> Update] - More info on Company: Troika Games
NMA
are reporting a thread
at Mapcore where David Marsh, a
level designer at Troika, says:
Everyone got layed off because activision
pulled the funding.
...
I think the answer is
for everyone to send me money so I can retire.
In all seriousness, you don't have to worry about me, I'm a big boy and
can take care of myself
So, who knows. I know the company has
always had trouble with publishers, let's hope that it doesn't result
in the Troika's
death.
EDIT by King of
Creation: Kharn
let us know in this
forum post that David
Marsh wanted to clear some things up about the wording
of the previous quote.
While I
appreciate your enthusiasm about this, if you look at the
thread in question you will see that I do not state anywhere that
"Everyone got layed off because activision pulled the funding."
In fact that exact phrase was posted by the original poster
of the
thread, not me. I just want to clear that up becuase I do not want
people assuming things based on something that I was falsely quoted as
stating. The rest of the quotes are indeed my public comments, and you
have every right to post them.
But, as
Kharn said, he doesn't deny it. Spotted @ No Mutants Allowed |

Word to the wise, guys, Marsh is a bit nervous about the wording. What he said on NMA:
marshmonkey wrote: | While I appreciate your enthusiasm about this, if you look at the thread in question you will see that I do not state anywhere that "Everyone got layed off because activision pulled the funding."

The starter of the thread said it (I think, uhm...), but Marsh never did, nor did he deny it, though. Nor has he denied it now. |

With the edit that is included, perhaps we can still bear some hope that they may live through this? |

How does activision pull funding when Vampire was already released? If they pulled funding during development why did Troika finish the game? Maybe they were working on another game for Activision, since they were supposedly going to spot them the money for the Fallout license. |

Well, it's happened before. Reflexive finished Lionheart even though Interplay wasn't paying them towards the end. Assuming it's true--and note that Marshmonkey made it clear that he never said Activision pulled the funding--it could be that Troika felt it'd be right to finish the game anyways. |

No more free rides for Troika.
If you haven't yet purchased Vampire: Bloodlines, this should dissuade you from buying it. With Troika's demise I doubt there will be any future patches (especially the much-needed performance improvements and further bug fixes) for the title.
Even if Troika isn't 'dead' the entire Bloodlines team got laid off. Good luck finding a new patch. |
