Requiem and Guns

Post by Flamescreen »

Max-V said something about your tiles, but i wanted to also ask:
About hte pistols you've made. Can you make some text with suggested ammo and possibly were they come from? I don't want to mess up discriptions and make something work with, say, 9mm when it should .45 for instance.

Also can somebody post at their sites links with info and pics on guns and weapons? (like S&W, winchester and stuff?) Not all of us know.
That said I know about the above and H&K sites.

cheers,

I have another question as well...

The sprites that I have downloaded on several sites look a little blur... ehhh they look blocky, if you know what I mean...

I was wondering what kind of programs people use to make these images on scale... I fear alot of those sprites are made with paint and then converted to spr or from gif to spr...

I can name a few programs that will remove the blocky vision because it looks kinda silly.

I have programs that will sharp the image when you enlarge the picture or make it smaller and then these images would look alot better as sprites...

Let me know,

Greetz

P.s: I was just wondering... not that I can do it better or something... it's just to help out !

Wow! Thanks a Million MacBeth!!!

Also, the standard tolls we use are, spray 11, Redviewer 17, Photoshop 5.0 or higher(MF used 5.0 and 3ds Max 2.0 I think) but Senore Deluxe used Lightwave and Photoshop 6 and MB 7 as he said. Don't know of Requiem. You need layers, so Photoshop is required.

Most tutorials on graphics state the software used. Oh, and Bosee for Ammo(if you wanna use it on game). I prefer blurry graphics than no graphics. You can always open and edit the ones you don't like and FO is abut used, weathered stuff, for the most part.(Not rusty weapons, few exceptions allowed for flavor though. you gotta be able to use them.)

BoS and Vaults-NCR should have good condition equipment.

Cheers,

flamescreen

P.S. Some people even didn't like SD's graphics which was crazy. It's a matter of personal taste I think. There are uses for everything. You'll see that in my map, plus Army teaches it and it's true. Try getting Photoshop 5 MacBeth if possible. There will be a big difference.

rifles:

ak-107 - 5.45mm another version of the ak, when using it you can always say it's the 108 version that is using 5.56mm NATO. and nobody should say youre wrong, because there are no big visual differences between the versions
http://world.guns.ru/assault/as07-e.htm
aks-74 - well its realy and aks (aks47) not an aks-74. i described it wrong. aks-74 has a different folding stock. aks is using 7.62mm russian ammo (different than the 7.62mm NATO)
http://world.guns.ru/assault/as01-e.htm
aks-74u - 5.45mm a shorter (therefore, more compact) version of aks-74. (note: s in the ak guns names means that the stock can be folded. u - means that the barrel is shorter)
http://world.guns.ru/assault/as03-e.htm
almaron pc - .357 Mag - yup. a hunting rifle using an pistol magazine (yup. magazine, not only ammo but magazine also).
http://securityarms.com/20010315/galler ... 0/2342.htm
mini-beryl - 5.56mm NATO - another modern AK clone. polish manufacture.
manufacturer site: http://www.fabrykabroni.pl/PODSTRONY/mini_beryl.htm (unfortunately, the english version of the page is f. up => it doesnt work)
beryl - 5.56mm NATO.
http://www.fabrykabroni.pl/PODSTRONY/BERYL.htm

oh. you can find info about the gun in english here:
http://hem.passagen.se/dadkri/

colt m4a1 - 5.56mm NATO
http://world.guns.ru/assault/as17-e.htm
colt m16a2 - 5.56mm NATO
http://world.guns.ru/assault/as18-e.htm
deimaco c7ft - 5.56mm NATO - a canadian m16 clone. with flap top (no transport rail, or whatever it is called)
http://world.guns.ru/assault/as44-e.htm
famas g2 - 5.56mm NATO - a french built bullpup assault weapon, high rate of fire, told to be durable.
http://world.guns.ru/assault/as21-e.htm
fnc - 5.56mm NATO - fabrique nationale carbine. so im not sure if it should be called fn fnc or just fnc. you could say its just a shorter version of fal adopted to 5.56mm istead of 7.62
http://world.guns.ru/assault/as24-e.htm
hk g3 - 7.62mm NATO - an old (late 50s) german assault rifle.
http://world.guns.ru/assault/as12-e.htm
hk g11 - 4.7mm caseless - bullpup design, experimental ammunition, extremely high rate of fire in 3round burst (around 2000rpm, in full auto it is traditional 600rpm). you could say a typical enclave super weapon ;)
http://world.guns.ru/assault/as42-e.htm
hk g36c - 5.56mm NATO - the shortest variant of the g36 assault rifles family.
http://world.guns.ru/assault/as14-e.htm
imi tar21 - 5.56mm NATO - bullpup design, israel quality (read v. good q.)
http://world.guns.ru/assault/as30-e.htm
pipe rifle - one of the best custom made weapons on the world. every idiot can become a famous craftsman just by taking a pipe and attaching it to a pice of wood. depending on the pipe size differs the ammunition used.
(sorry no link :P)
Sig SG 550 - 5.56mm NATO - sig sturm gewehr 550. got no idea what could i write here :| . note this gun on the sprite has 3 magazines clipped together.
http://world.guns.ru/assault/as25-e.htm

ps. note: 5.56mm NATO = .223 Remington i dont remeber the other name for 7.62mm NATO

damit i forgot:
my favourite ^^
steyr AUG - 5.56mm NATO - steyr armee uniwersal gewehr (army universal rifle). austrian made, but they also use it in some other countries in the world, for example australia (it's called there Austeyr F88). of course bullpup design.

[Roe] Snake - you didnt aswer my question :)

smgs:
fn p90 - 5.7mm - bullpup design, very small, low recoil (i dont now if its the correct word, i mean the force that works on you when you shoot) ammo (low str. needed), but high rate of fire. the funniest thing is that when you shoot it the empty shells are getting out of the gun on the bottom of the gun, flying directly in the direction of ... your groin. note: the 5.7mm ammo is very good at penetrating ANYTHING, but it does not as much 'leathal' damage.
http://world.guns.ru/smg/smg13-e.htm
gepard - 9mm - a russian smg, not much to say, because not much is known about it. people tend to say it has high accuracy, but who knows. it can use many different ammo calibers without big changes in the weapon.
http://www.greendevils.pl/technika_wojs ... epard.html (unfortunately in polish)
hk mp7 pdw - 4.6mm (note: not the same ammunition as g11 uses) very small, accurate and durable. very high penetrating ammo. you could say its the hks answer for the fn p90, and its said that it is a very good answer.
http://world.guns.ru/smg/smg49-e.htm
imi uzi - 9mm - i think everyone knows this weapon. (note the sprite is for the UZI not for the mini-uzi or micro-uzi)
http://world.guns.ru/smg/smg17-e.htm
ingram mac-10 - .45 Colt - veeery high rate of fire. note: there is also a mac-11 which is almost the same it just uses 9mm ammo instead of .45 Colt.
http://world.guns.ru/smg/smg22-e.htm
M1 Thompson - .45 Colt - not tommygun, but thompson (at least when were speaking about M1).
http://world.guns.ru/smg/smg29-e.htm
M3A1 Grease Gun - 9mm - very simple construction. note: M3 uses .45 Colt, M3A1 - 9mm.
http://world.guns.ru/smg/smg32-e.htm
Steyr TMP - 9mm - i like this gun, i dont know why (maybe because its WAS* made by steyr).
http://world.guns.ru/smg/smg11-e.htm

* - they sold it to some other company, which is making it also in 4.6mm

sniper:
overall note:
bolt action rifles are more accurate than semi auto. and much easier to make and repair, thats why the military is using them.
Erma DSR-1 - 7.62mm NATO - bolt action. one of the most accurate sniper rifles ever made. but it is a typical 'police' weapon, so its not very durable. on some webpages they say this rifle is called: Erma (from the company) DSR-1 others say its AMP TS DSR-1
http://world.guns.ru/sniper/sn38-e.htm
hk psg-1 - 7.62mm NATO - semi auto, but still heard to be accurate. very heavy and expensive.
http://world.guns.ru/sniper/sn14-e.htm
IMI SR99 - 7.62mm NATO - semi auto. yhm not much to say about it. i got the picture from a polish firearms website, but maybe you will have more luck finding some info about it (try www.securityarms.com )
L96A1 - 7.62mm NATO - bolt action. british sniper rifle, issued in/by (i dont know which form is correct) the british army (and maybe the police too :P).
http://world.guns.ru/sniper/sn06-e.htm
m24 sws - 7.62mm NATO - sws = sniper weapon system. bolt action.
http://world.guns.ru/sniper/sn11-e.htm
m40a1 - 7.62mm NATO - bolt action.
http://world.guns.ru/sniper/sn12-e.htm
svd - 7.62mm Rimmed (its not the same caliber as the AK shoots). semi auto. not that much accurate. its more a support for the land troops than a real sniper rifle.
http://world.guns.ru/sniper/sn18-e.htm
walther wa2000 - 7.62mm NATO or some other calibers - bolt action. very accurate (second after dsr1). VEEEEEEERY rare.
http://world.guns.ru/sniper/sn15-e.htm

ps. i remember now. 7.62mm NATO was called .308 Winchester in the US.

Well ehhh most of them I guess... See what happens when you crop or make an image smaller it will damage the edges, I use Picture Publisher to make images smaller and it will calculate what it takes to keep the image sharp and shiney :D

It's no offense but I'm just such a perfectionist...

EDIT: I'll Put on an example... Posting the result soon... Just a sec !

ok but now try making that picture max 134 pixels wide and no more than 50 high. remember that you CANT use any jpg format just gif's or pngs and that white colour should be transparent (its not that easy as it seems)

I can make it smaller, I can make it shark and in any graphical formal I want without any color lose or any quality lose...

I can make the background transparent with the program but I don't know how... :D I get comfused with the masks and stuff.

But if you're interested in looking yourself... Try finding it somewhere, there are demo's available and you can always try sneak it from Kazaa or something... What ever it takes right ?!?

Like I said... I'm not good at graphics... I just edit, and I do alot of trigger, entities, story and character works... I also finish maps by adding entities and tiles.

I run the project but I can't do everthing alone...I just know you can make those images much sharper and clearer... I am willing to make sure yur images are clear, you could send them to me, and I'll make sure they are the correct size and file format... And you'll have to make it transperent yourself... I'm not really good at that :D

Like I said... It's no offence or anything... just an observation and I'm not saying I can do it better... I just know it can and I just wanna help out !

another problem that i forgot about is that when creating a sprite youre limited to 256 colors due the color indexing (i has to be in 'indexed color' or something like that, not RGB).

but what is the name of the program that you are using?

ps. maybe someone could split this topic in two? call the second one 'blocky sprites' or something like that :)

My map is not released yet. Lot's of people using Senor Deluxe's graphics though(and they rock too). Most maps are placed in NMA, but you can look in JJ86 site for preview of the graphics(Tileset A namely. I found it a great set).

Thanks for the rest of the info MB. I'd split that topic but don't have too much time sorry(and not experienced, so I might get it wrong). You can always make a new one though.

You don't need to worry making white color transparent. It's automatic if you'll follow JJ86 procedures. Also it HAS to be indexed color, plus the raw and act files probably mess with it. Generally speaking you can make better sprites out of rendered model pics than simple everyday pics.
