Rumors rumors rumors. What is this? Oblivion? Where have you heard about these supposed "locks"? Vault Dweller isn't really someone who's "rumors" I would tend to believe. Vault Dweller may have his particular angle at times, and argue his points fervently, but he's basically an...

Why the fuck are you getting excited? This is just the kind of bullshit PR phrases you'd expect regardless if they're going to rape Fallout just a tiny bit, somewhat or completely.

Ã? didn't think Metroid Prime was that good. Sure, it was good for what it was, but I enjoyed Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion more in their side-scrolling 2D glory. Gameplay was an odd mix of navigation and button-mashing with auto-aim. And this is with an action game; the issue of perspective b...

Good piece. Todd picked the right words this time.

Here's to hoping they try out a good form of turn-based combat during this 'pre-production'.

But I still think I'm correct in saying that the game developers would be ripping us all off if they used the same engine used on fallout, put in a new story, and still charged us $50 for it. That's not going to happen and I'm not even asking for it. They can use any engine they want, as long as th...

I wonder why "streamlining" and "updating" always seems to mean making it like all the other crap out there . If you don't care about perspective or combat, let's just keep Fallout like it is, okay? It's fairly unique considering today's games, so changing it to be more like othe...

If people feel like playing the same old thing again they can pick up just that, they don't have to dish out money for it. You sure you wanna be saying stuff like that in a discussion about FO3? :) :confused2: I think there's room for a lot of improvements to the Fallout gameplay that wouldn't bast...

Yeah, Harbinger couldn't have flopped because it's a crappy game, it's gotta be because it's sci-fi! Let's make fantasy games and frollic in the greenest of glades!

Oh yeah, you mean like the chuckle-head in this article ? RT SELLS TB DROOLS is one of the strange myths perpetuated in the PC games biz. It's partly a subset of the THAT GAME SOLD WELL, SO WE HAVE TO CLONE IT! type of thinking. Diablo sold shitloads, this means RT hack n slash is what rolls in the ...

Bullshit. They'll get rained with GOTYs and sell it like hotcakes regardless of combat system if they keep going like they've done up to this point.

Consider it, yeah. Dunno how large chance it would have, some publishers are likely more open than others.

"I'd say the impact the original had in its day was about so much more then the angle you viewed it at, or how combat was executed. He's damn right it's much more - IT'S THE GAME AS A WHOLE. The above quote is pretty much him admitting they're going to make some first-person/third-person romp ...

I meant exactly what I said, I tried to throw some light on the situation.

I don't doubt Bethesda would put in the effort for a new game. But until proven otherwise, I will doubt their intentions in making a proper sequel to Fallout.

I have no idea if this is true for Bethesda's new engine and FO3, but it is for many other game engines/games today though. Typically the game engine is fairly low level. It mainly handles graphics. Something like changing it between a first-person view and a 3/4 overhead view is fairly trivial. Th...

The graphical capabilities wouldn't need to be changed majorly. The isometric gameplay of Fallout, however, would have to be built from the ground as it is different from the gameplay of the TES games. Is that clear enough for you?

Moving the camera (and thus the viewpoint) is no rocket science, it's crafting the gameplay for it that'll require work.

Gameplay? That's pushing it. These screens doesn't tell us more than Morrowind does. Bethesda hasn't come clean on their intentions yet.
