People will be asking "Where's the innovation? Did Black Isle run out of ideas?" I think that these days it would be innovative just to concentrate more on gameplay, plot and details rather than flashy stuff and hype. Back in the days when platforms didn't change much over time you could ...

Jebus people, i dont get what the problem is... Now youv'e done it. My advice to you would be to DAC :-) And note, he definately did say option, which means you could fall back on the tried and true turned base mode. No, what that means is that *if* FO3 ever goes into development they will worm the...

Although it is worth remembering that the graphics for all three were pretty much up to date when they were released. Not at the expense of other things, maybe. Now that made me think. I used to run the first two on an up to date computer: a 33 MHz 386 SX, IIRC. And very impressive it was too... Th...

What are the things that made X-COM unique? Maybe the technology, interception, recovery of alien artifacts, infestations ... I dunno. Things like night terror site missions, or meeting chrysalids (or tentacualats) for the first time. It's difficult to define, but X-COM has an atmosphere, especiall...

up to date using this technology.
This can be a curse though. Designers often use this as a way of making a title with little plot/gameplay/cleverness/charm. The game is much easier and cheaper to make, and sales come from mindless 1337 game kiddies.

It's an easy way out.

If it had good plot elements and was thought out and not rushed I would play it if it had similar graphics to wasteland or roguelikes.

Who cares what it looks like: it needs to be a good game first, and look nice second.

Actually, no, a tighter range of weapon damages wouldn't be good. Look at Fallout 2, even with that broad range of weapon damage, how many weapons were there that were redundant? This is an interesting point, I think, and a good argument for more generic weapons. After all, in "real life"...

There are still quite a number of possible locations of a ruined world that FO's didn't cover. Derelict Gas Stations and Cafeterias are such. I don't think they thought in the 50's a Nuclear war would destroy everything but big cities. I would expect that thieves/raiders would have similar "ba...

On the other hand: People fantasizing about a real World War Three are always thinking that it won't happen to them...that it won't be their eyes and brains hanging from the bayonet... And there's one or two people who seem to think that it won't just not happen to them, but when it happens to othe...

Great idea!!...but classes? Bad idea bad.
Yes. There’s no way around the fact that classes would detract from the "falloutness" of any FO game.

Maybe it would be best if they were to invent a whole range of imaginary weapons and leave out any of the real-world guns that were in the previous games.

This easily the best solution.

But, let them keep *one* DE if they want.

I thought Fallout Tactics had the perfect RT TB? It's even called Continuous Turn Based... I mean, how flawed can that be?
Indeed, it must be uber l33t!

RT TB = an oxymoron.

Therefore CTB = an oxymoron.

The M16 was chosen for a couple of reasons. Not to mention you can carry a whole lot more 5.56mm for an equivalent wieght of 30-06 or 7.62mm. The M14 is only capable of firing in three round bursts IIRC there is a version (the M14A1???) which is fully automatic. What I think happend was they create...

I just looked at their site. I went to game profiles where, under F, they list FOT but not FO or FO2.

This is from a site which proclaims itself "Your RPG site".

Blargh!

Is it me, or is that a reflex sight on the second prototype? It doesn't seem long enough for much else.

what rubbish they are probably the only country militarily that can rival the US No, not at all. They have a truly formidable army, but they can't project power worth shit. Whereas the US have a slightly less formidable army (in terms of numbers only, they are superior otherwise) but are the only c...
