Akella, the comany who developed Metalheart: Replicants Rampage, has just announced at E3 that they are also developing a post apocalyptic action RPG entitiled Axel Rage.
Axle Rage is a cinematographic third person viewed 3D action game,
featuring a unique combination of fast-paced hand-to-hand fights and
motorcycle gangs' combats taking place in a highly immersive and vast
gaming universe of a postapocalyptic megapolis within a single
intriguing storyline.
IGN has also picked up on the story. They've even got a boatload of screenshots!
Although barely out of the conception stages, Akella has revealed details of a new action RPG. Titled Rage Rider, this game promises to deliver us into a world first made famous by Mel Gibson. No, not Braveheart, but Mad Max.
Rage Rider is not based on the movie in any way, although it is
heavily influenced from the silver screen. You play as Axle, a
leather-and-jeans clad guy looking to survive in the deserts of a
futuristic and deserted Nevada. Axle is a bounty hunter, making his
living popping heads of criminals and bludgeoning corrupt sheriffs with
a steel pipe.
It appears that IGN just doens't know what they're talking about
however, as they've messed up both the name of the game and it's
projected release date. IGN says "It's so early in development
that Akella hasn't given even a clue as to a release date." The Axel Rage page at the Akella website says "Release Date 2005." Someone doesn't check
their facts! |
