The latest newsletter for the post-apocalyptic MMORPG Auto Assault has been sent out, and here it is...
We are very excited this week as we
have introduced the first set of beta testers to Auto Assault and will continue to do so in
the coming weeks and months. It’s not too late to sign-up! Visit http://www.plaync.com/aa_beta.html
Our website at www.autoassault.com has undergone a
slight makeover, featuring new art from the game, as well as a new entry in our
Spring-Loaded Action month of wallpapers with the Longbow Rocket Launcher and we
have updated our weekly forum poll (http://boards.autoassault.com).
This week’s new recon feature of
Auto Assault takes a look at
hazard mode (http://www.autoassault.com/recon/recon_feature_hazardmode.html),
a special mode players can engage when they are faced with truly overwhelming
odds with even more overwhelming firepower.
MMORPG.com’s Richard Duffek recently
toured NCsoft’s Austin facility (http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/setview/features/loadFeature/75/gameID/149/)
and interviewed Auto Assault’s
Assistant Producer, Todd “Guinn” Keister (http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/setview/features/loadFeature/74/gameID/149/).
Hazard Mode sounded curious so I did some quick research:
Each race has a unique hazard mode ability. The humans use
a modification of their advanced shield technology to create
an inversion effect — effectively creating an impervious
shield around the chassis while giving the ability to call
on a high-energy beam from orbit. Biomek chassis can transform
into robot juggernauts — the specific capabilities
of which depends on the type of hazard kit used. A Mutant
chassis in hazard mode uses a melding of phase-shift abilities
and the Contamination to form a free-roving negative energy
field, which can damage any enemy within range and move
in bursts of great speed.
It's a 'super weapon' for each of the three races, then. I guess it adds some variety, but I had hoped it'd be more interesting.
