Further to the 'Herve is getting a developer to skullfuck Fallout again with Fallout Online' story posted recently, an Interplay investor called Frymuchan posted this on the Raging Bull forums:
Rbuss, the info on the No
Mutants website fits with rumors that have long been going on that
Herve is in discussions with parties to make Fallout Online. It also
fits with what has been said on the Ballerium website that Interplay is
progressing in talks that will help fund the release of Ballerium.
Interplay would not need much cash to finish Ballerium and market it.
It's nearly done. Hopefully, they can make a deal with the developer
who makes Fallout Online that will give them upfront needed capital and
a share of the Fallout Online profits. I actually think that Fallout
online has the potential to earn a fair amount of money. It has a rabid
fan base, perfect for an MMORPG, so long as the game fits with what the
fanbase is looking for.
Unfortunately, it looks more and more likely that a deal to develop Fallout Online
will be announced sometime in the not-so-distant future. Of course, we know that
it won't get finished to be publisher by Interplay, but the worrying
thing is that if it starts development and Interplay dies, there's a
chance it will continue development under a new publisher.
Still, we got to find out
that Interplay gets its money from extremely ignorant shareholders. I
don't think there's anyone who'd call themselves a Fallout fan who'd
support Fallout Online, especially being published Interplay.
