Women have generally stated that if a game's controls and UI are
difficult to master, they won't spend long playing that game. How will
you make sure the controls and UI are intuitive and easy to master,
especially in a game so action oriented?
We are trying to make the game as accessible as possible. We are using
a variety of controls including keyboard, mouse, game pad, joystick and
wheel to allow players to find the controls that they like best. You
are moving while firing, so Auto Assault does take some getting used to. I have always liked the design mantra of "Easy to learn, but difficult to master."
It's true: countless times I've seen a woman struggle to get to grips with
a "keyboard" and "mouse" before bursting into tears in frustration. Fine
journalism indeed, Rosethorn.
