Interplay has resurrected Black Isle. This will probably be the first and only time this matters to any of us, as Interplay is still just a walking corpse. There is a website, twitter, and facebook account. As far as I know, Interplay has no IPs worth mentioning, so this is an empty gesture.
RPGCodex has collected some reactions:
Josh Sawyer: lol black isle lol Brian Fargo: A game division is obviously only as good as the talent it employs. Chris Avellone: I know nothing about the Black Isle Studio news announcement, doesn't involve me or Obsidian... or well, anyone that I know.
And former dev Corith commented at NMA:
Interplay didn't close Black Isle out of financial difficulties, like the article indicates. I know, I was there. Black Isle closed because Herve boldly claimed he didn't need them and their ideas, that he knew what the public really wanted. He also felt, openly so, that PCs were a dying market and consoles were the way to go.
We'll keep you updated.
